FLASH: Blackbeards has lowered the price to $799!!!
Blackbeards Cruises has relocated to Freeport Bahamas. This means no ugly Gulf Stream crossings. It also means a hasher pub crawl in Freeport Bahamas, to include a tour of the Lucayan Lager Brewery!
For the ultimate in diving adventure, join us for seven days of the best diving in the Bahamas. We live on a 65' sailboat, custom built for diving charters. The package includes meals, tanks, weights, air, and ALL OF THE BEER, WINE AND RUM YOU CAN DRINK. Help us break the record of 8 kegs! Four dives a day, including a night dive, will keep us wet all week. The diving is excellent around the Bimini chain. The dive spots are varied and include drift diving, walls, wrecks, reefs with swim-thrus, a shark dive, and night dives. The cabins are air conditioned and the meals are excellent. There is always fresh fruit to munch on and the famous Blackbeard's rum punch to finish out the day. Shore trips to deserted out islands are a daily event. Snorkeling can be done at many of the dive sites or you can try your luck fishing. One night we go to port at Bimini. There we have a hash pub crawl to all the bars on the island.
THE DETAILS:
The boat leaves from Freeport Bahamas on Saturday afternoon and returns
on Friday. Price
is $799 per person, plus a $10.00 Bahamas Underwater National Park fee that
everyone must pay. This fee is valid for one year for any future dive trips to
the Bahamas. There is a $25.00 fuel surcharge and a $40.00 port tax. About the
only other thing that is not included, is the crew tip and your spending money
while in port.
I did a quick search for airfare from DC and found numerous options that started
out at $245.00 per person for round trip. I checked the following dates for
travel: 4 October – 14 October figuring that I'd take advantage of the low cost
rooms on the island. Blackbeards has several properties that will offer rooms at
$65.00 a night for double occupancy. Much cheaper than South Beach and no Gulf
Stream crossings!

The Compleat Angler rising from the ashes!
The Compleat Angler Hotel in Bimini housed one of the largest collections of Earnest Hemmingway memorabilia. It was the center of activity for everyone on the island, locals and tourists. It burned down last year. The link below is a great tribute to the hotel and a start for raising funds to rebuild. Please take the time to view the video and consider making a contribution.
